Hi Everyone, it has been a long time between setting up this blog space and then actually posting to it. Thank you hanging in there with us this past winter and spring seasons. On a personal note, Sheri has recently learned that she no longer needs chemo and is cancer free. We are definitely looking forward to getting her back to work on a regular schedule.

So what is new in and around the shop? There is still a lot of summer left and we have some great yarns for summer into fall transitional knitting. New to us is Terra frome SWTC, Inc. This dk weight, 50/50 cotton/bamboo yarn comes in great colors (and 3 shades within a given color family) and has a wonderful hand. It is easy to knit with and even easier to wear. Check out the Heidi pattern at www.soysilk.com using Terra. That sweater was a big hit when Joe from SWTC came to visit us last month.
Another new yarn is Duo Plus. I love the colors this yarn comes in. It is great for kids sweaters. It is a light worsted, 50/50 cotton/wool blend that stripes. Although this is supposed to be a hand wash only yarn, I did launder it on cool, gentle cycle and even put it in the dryer on low heat with no problem.

Our fall yarns will be arriving periodically throughout the remainder of the summer into September. We have a lot of exciting new products for you. You may have heard that novelty yarns are making a comeback for the fall/winter season. This is somewhat true. You will see some more conservative fun yarns at Knit A Round. For example, we will have the Stuff yarn from Prism again, but this time without all the fluff and fun fur. We will also have (in fact we do have some already) mohair with a little glamour thrown in for extra eye appeal. We will also have yarns that ruffle, or knit into marshmallow like hats and scarves for the younger set. Finally we will have some non-knitting fun and easy fiber projects for you to try your hand at as well.

We are planning a few fun events too. We will have another Ravelry Night. We will be doing a shop crawl with 4-5 other shops in the metro area, we are hoping to have an interesting national teacher join us later in the season.

But don't wait until to fall to visit us. Right now we have many of last winter's yarns on sale at 30% off the regular price. You can be sure to find many great deals at the Traver Village Shopping Center sidewalk sale beginning July 22nd through the 26th. Then our summer sale will start on the 27th. So July is bargin month at the shop.

Happy summer knitting to all.
Carrie
